Daniel Xuedong Li, a first year SDM fellow, has published the book “Cut Protective Textiles,” the first volume on the subject of cut protective textiles and fabrics. These textiles are used to manufacture personal protective equipment to protect wearers from injury. The book is a comprehensive guide to the field, covering background theory, industrial testing methods, regulations, applications, and the material characteristics of these textiles. Prior to joining SDM, Daniel was the global technology leader for textile coating at Covestro Polymers (formerly Bayer MaterialScience). His background includes over 18 years of industrial R&D experience, including almost 12 years at DuPont working on advanced fiber. Daniel holds a doctorate in chemistry from the National University of Singapore.
