Elizabeth White Baker, SDM ’19 alumna, was interviewed for Peter Coy’s newsletter in the New York Times discussing her research into hospital safety procedures and medical accidents. The newsletter featured Baker’s thesis work, which analyzed safety in medication administration and the utility of STAMP, or systems-theoretic accident model and processes, as a way to study medical errors and prevent them from recurring. Baker earned her SM in engineering and management from SDM in 2022. She also holds a doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she is an associate professor in the School of Business.
