An MIT team, including one SDM fellow, took second place in NASA’s 2019 BIG Idea Challenge. Tommy Smith joined SDM in 2018 and participated in the student team’s design of a multi-level greenhouse that could be used on Mars. The Breakthrough, Innovative and Game-changing (BIG) Idea Challenge searches for innovative and futuristic ideas and is sponsored by NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate’s Game Changing Development program and managed by the National Institute of Aerospace.
