Companies large and small have reaped the benefits of sponsoring students in SDM’s master’s or certificate program.
SDM offers a 24-month option for the master’s program that is ideally suited for employees who will continue working while they are enrolled and/or who have family obligations. For all but one semester, SDM fellows can use distance-learning technologies to attend live classes with their on-campus counterparts.
MIT requires all SDM students to attend MIT full time for one semester as a prerequisite for graduation. This concentrated period enables employees to develop a strong research network on the MIT campus that can provide long-term benefits for a company. Several students have forged valuable alliances with MIT faculty that have led to continuing, and mutually beneficial, research arrangements.
A student’s required thesis project also provides an excellent opportunity for the sponsoring company, as topics of pressing concern to the company can be addressed. Previously sponsored topics include:
