Varun Parmar

September 13, 2004Varun Parmar, SDM ’04, received the Cisco Achievement Program (CAP) award for his contribution to the re-design of Cisco’s optical technology supply chain. Parmar is currently pursuing an internship and conducting thesis research at the company under the supervision of Professor David Simchi-Levi, Co-director of SDM and LFM.

Parmar was recognized for the work performed above and beyond the expectation level in the definition and creation of the new supply chain vision. According to Andrew Buckley, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, “Varun has gone way beyond the level of performance expected of an intern by challenging the status quo of our business and initiating fundamental changes in the way we do business in the optical networking group. Cisco could not have made many of these mental leaps without his tremendous understanding of supply chain principles and his outstanding ability to influence.”

Cisco’s CAP consists of a monetary award, certificate of achievement, and letter of recommendation.
