Career Development

MIT’s System Design & Management (SDM) program is dedicated to providing its students the tools they need to advance within their companies or to effectively search for new jobs. SDM career development workshops and individual job search strategy sessions are open only to self-funded students.

Throughout the year, SDM enlists experts to help students build the skills they need for success. Topics range from resume writing to networking to how to make a stellar presentation. In addition, SDM’s career development manager is available to meet with students for individual career counseling, to ensure that each student gets the tailored assistance that they need.

Workshop topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Creating marketable resumes and application materials
  • Effective networking
  • The art of behavioral interviewing
  • Crack the Case: case interviewing workshop
  • Salary negotiation

Individual career coaching and job search strategy assistance is also available from SDM’s career development team.

Companies interested in hiring SDM fellows should contact Amanda Peters, Manager, SDM and IDM Career Development at acpeters@mit.edu.
