Each year, MIT’s System Design and Management Program builds a strong cohort that represents a stunning diversity of cultural, professional, and academic backgrounds. SDM fellows are successful, midcareer professionals who come from a wide range of industries, including high-tech, health care, energy and sustainability, financial services, government, the military, and more. Current SDM students include an MD, an advisor to the prime minister of Kazakhstan, a former senior vice president of Mars Inc., a CTO, and several vice presidents of engineering.
SDM emphasizes teamwork, so cohort members learn to maximize diversity by leveraging each other’s strengths and supporting each other’s intellectual, professional, and personal growth. Demanding coursework and rigorous interdisciplinary research continually challenge SDM fellows to work together to expand their knowledge base and to adapt to new ways of thinking, working, and leading.
