The MIT Master's Program in Engineering and Management
Spring Business Trip Success
The spring business trip was held the week of March 10th, and was a busy but successful set of events—the highlight was our evening out at the Summer Shack, with over 200 students, alums, staff and family members attending—the food was delicious, and the camaraderie was even better! In addition, we awarded the annual "leadership, innovation and systems thinking" award—nominees were Suzie Livingston, Marianna Novellino and Alex Sanchez, all of whom made significant contributions to the program over the past year, in many ways—both professional and in personifying the spirit of our motto. The winner, as voted by the staff, was Alex Sanchez—congratulations to all three!
Coming Changes in SDM
We have some exciting changes coming in SDM, which will be announced, with details, in about a week. The key changes are in curriculum, duration and distance offerings. The primary change is to consolidate our three core courses into one integrated offering taught over fall, IAP and spring by a team of faculty, led by Professor Oli de Weck. More details will be in the next newsletter when final planning is completed. The new program will be somewhat shorter and simpler, and will include a completely new track, Product Design and Management (PDM), which will be available in fall of 2015.
Get ready for yet another 50 or so alumni to join your ranks in June, and come to celebrate with us if you can!
