Graduate Certificate in Systems and Product Development
The Graduate Certificate in Systems and Product Development is designed to meet the needs of companies affiliated with SDM, and many companies have their own standards for candidates. Nevertheless, all candidates must meet MIT’s demanding admission requirements and be approved by SDM’s admissions committee in order to enroll.

To qualify for the SDM Certificate Program, candidates must have either:
• Hold an MS in engineering or an equivalent degree and have three more years of professional experience in a technical field, including some leadership experience
OR
• Hold a BS degree in engineering or a hard science and have five or more years of professional experience, preferably combined with some graduate engineering education.

The Graduate Certificate in Systems and Product Development application for admission has several components:

Application form: Please complete the online application form at sdm.mit.edu/apply. Applications are only accepted electronically, through our online application. The application deadline is June 1.

One letter of recommendation: The recommendation should be completed by an individual who can comment with certainty about an applicant’s intellectual and professional achievements. If company funded, the recommender must be your current supervisor.

Transcripts: One copy of an official transcript is required from each post-secondary institution attended (for degree programs or single courses). Transcripts from international (non-US) institutions must be in English and certified. Transcripts should be mailed to the Graduate Program in Systems and Product Development mailing address (below).

Resume: Comprehensive summary of education and career.

Application fee: The fee for applying to SDM is $75, payable by credit card online when you apply. You will be prompted for payment information after submitting your application.
